Disable OneDrive Synchronization of Cached Files

In order for the ChaseData Agent application (newer versions) to work properly with MS Windows, corresponding cached files need to be kept locally and not in a OneDrive folder.

This means that if, on a particular Windows installation, OneDrive is enabled and linked, the user must make sure that the folders that include the cached files be excluded from OneDrive.

Since a new/clean installation of Windows by default suggests using OneDrive for about everything, it is very common to run into this issue for those cases, or any other case where OneDrive is enabled system-wide and not selectively. The following link provides some background information:
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/files-save-to-onedrive-by-default-in-windows-10-33da0077-770c-4bda-b61e-8c8e8ca70ac7

The location that needs to be kept local and not in OneDrive is:
%userprofile%\Documents\WPF
Just enter it on the address bar of a File Explorer window.

Which typically resolves into something like:
C:\Users\<your-user>\Documents\WPF

If you are just setting up OneDrive for the first time on your Windows installation, all you need to do is make sure that %userprofile%\Documents\WPF is not included in the scope of OneDrive.

But if you already have OneDrive set up, then you want to check its settings and find whether Documents\WPF is in the scope of OneDrive.

There are a couple of ways to do that; if OneDrive is set up to keep a local copy, you could check the OneDrive directory and try to find Documents\WPF within it; the OneDrive location can be found by resolving %ONEDRIVE%, with %ONEDRIVE%\Documents\WPF being the directory that concerns us here.

If you find %ONEDRIVE%\Documents\WPF, then that is a clear indication that you need to take corrective action. If you do not find it, you still want to confirm, just to make sure, under OneDrive settings.

What follows are generic directions provided by Microsoft regarding configuration of OneDrive. You should consult Microsoft for appropriate steps for your particular case and for any and all possible side effects; it is entirely your responsibility, and ChaseData assumes no responsibility or liability.

To choose which OneDrive folders to sync to your computer, follow the instructions from this link:
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/choose-which-onedrive-folders-to-sync-to-your-computer-98b8b011-8b94-419b-aa95-a14ff2415e85

Notice that if you uncheck a folder that you are already syncing to your computer, the folder will be removed from your computer, while the folder and its contents should still be available online. For our particular case, this is mitigated by reinstalling the ChaseData Agent application, if necessary, with no side effects. You could also copy the contents manually from %ONEDRIVE%\Documents\WPF to %userprofile%\Documents\WPF, if you wish, before deselecting it.

A more drastic measure would be to turn off, disable, or uninstall OneDrive. But you must do this with extreme care as it will most probably remove all relevant files and directories from your local computer (they are usually still available online under your OneDrive account). One possible way to mitigate that, if you so desire, is to manually copy relevant folders and files from %ONEDRIVE% to %userprofile% or any another applicable directory.

The following link provides instructions to turn off, disable, or uninstall OneDrive:
