Feature Overview

IP Blocking

An important aspect of the ChaseData solution is that it is cloud based and therefore can be operated from anywhere facilitating remote workers. A business may still want to put restrictions by either whitelisting or blacklisting a set of IP addresses, for which the ChaseData solution provides a mechanism, referred to as IP Blocking, or just Firewall, configured using the Management Console, a.k.a. Admin app.

If you enable IP Blocking in the Firewall area of the Admin app, you select to either block the list of IP addresses you specify (blacklisting), or to only allow the list of IP addresses you specify (whitelisting). Additionally, you can indicate, for each IP address, whether it applies only to the Agent app, only to the Admin app, or both.

To configure IP Blocking, start by clicking and expanding the 3-dot menu, then Settings, and select Firewall. Refer to the following picture.

Initially, IP Blocking will be disabled, with no entries in the list.

So, the first thing that you need to do is enable it, and then decide whether you want to create a blacklist of IP addresses, or a whitelist of IP addresses.

The following switch indicates that your list is a blacklist of IP addresses:

In other words, the system will allow log-ins from any IP, except from those in this list, the blacklist.

The following switch indicates that your list is a whitelist of IP addresses:

In other words, the system will only allow log-ins from the IPs in this list, the whitelist.

You can add IPs to the list, one row at a time. To do so, select “Click here to add new item”, and include the following:

  1. Origination is the IP address from where the agent or admin attempts to log in.
  2. Scope can be either Agent (rule applies only to Agent app), Admin (rule applies only to Admin app), or Global (applies to all).
  3. Description can be used to describe the IP location or owner, for example.
  4. Active allows you to enable or disable this item in the list, so you can add items and enable them later on, or disable previously enabled items without deleting them.
  5. Added On is a date-time stamp generated by the system.

Refer to the following picture.
